- Students were given the first half of a speech by Ronald Reagan about the explosion of the Challenger. They were asked to edit the speech for errors.
- When they were done finding the errors, I asked them to count them up and share with the class how many they found. Then, I announced the real number of errors (60+) and had them go back and look for more.
- After they did another read through and edit, we went over each of the errors as a class and students turned the assignment in.
In-Class:
- No Journal
- Students spent the majority of the period working on their parody/nonsense karaoke assignment.
- Toward the end of the class period, students performed their parodies.
