May 14th: Classwork and Assignments
In-Class:
- Journal: After learning the 4 rules for a semi-colon, correct the five sentences on the overhead projector and list which rule applies to each one.
- We discussed what a thesis statement is (powerpoint presentation) and analyzed some of the thesis statements students brought in for homework.
- I handed back the thesis statements and had students correct them based on what they learned about what a thesis statement is.
- We had a Socratic dialogue about the issues surrounding dress code.
Homework:
- Write down at least three powerful arguments that support your thesis and which will serve as the skeleton for your paper.
